Have you ever been thanked or rewarded for doing something which comes naturally to you? I’m talking about supporting other businesses or people who are going out of their comfort zones to achieve something more for themselves.

I was most surprised to see a FAB friend of mine, Marsha Kerr Talley, thank me for reacting to her posts. However, it’s the little things that count, she said

But it got me thinking, do we do enough to support people?

Really, all it takes is clicking the like button or leaving an engaging comment, surely we can all find the time and energy for that…..

Ways you can help authors include:

Leave reviews of their books. If you found the story engaging or the book unputdownable, tell people about it.

Engage with their posts. Like, comment or repost, or even better, do all three. Giving really is the best part and it’ll make ya feel good.

Please don’t lend books to friends. This impacts on the author, however, if you do lend to friend, please ensure they at least leave a review. Engagement matters.

Share their social media stories with your friends. This engagement helps the algorithm.

And finally…. If you didn’t enjoy the book for some reason, still be kind. Remember, the author has put their heart and soul into that book, and no doubt, a decent amount of their OWN money to get that book published. Self-publishing costs thousands, usually within the region of £4000, to get a book out there.

Appreciation matters, being kind matters. Let’s not forget this.
